About Us

Richie Vomit is the award-winning tattoo artist and owner of Siouxicide City Tattoo. Although he was born in California, he has lived in Iowa for the majority of his life. Richie found his passion for the arts at a very young age. He started drawing super heroes before he was old enough to read or write! He also started learning to play guitar at the age of 13 and has played in numerous local bands over the years.

Richie received his first professional tattoo at the age of 19. He later began a formal tattoo apprenticeship in Sioux City. In October 2002, Richie opened his own tattoo shop, Jolly Roger Tattoo. After his tattoo career began, he has continued to feed his passion for the arts, and in 2004 he created the music venue, Cutthroat Alley. Richie and Heidi have also created the Film production company, Vomit Films, in which they have produced and directed 2 full length feature films.

Richie strives to be a very well rounded artist. Although his area of art expertise is realism, while looking through his portfolio, one can view the breadth of his experience with many different art styles. Richie has won multiple awards for his work as an artist and a tattoo artist derived from tattoo conventions, tattoo contests, The Weekender’s 2010, 2011, and 2012 Best Local Artist and 2011 Best Local Tattoo Shop, and Pain magazine’s Shop of the Month in November 2010.He also won the Best of Show awards from the 2012 Sioux City Tattoo Convention and 2012 Immersed in Ink Convention in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Heidi Vomit is the co-owner of Siouxicide City Tattoo. She has also lived the majority of her life in Sioux City, Iowa. She and Richie have been partners in life and business for over twenty years, and every tattoo business decision has been a joint effort. Richie and Heidi Vomit joke that at the shop, Richie does the tattoos and Heidi does everything else! They apprenticed together, and they opened up shop together as well. She is the go-to person for any tattoo related questions you may have. She has devised a ‘Tattoos 101’ lecture and travels to local high schools and colleges explaining tattoo safety by promoting critical thinking about the impact of tattoo decisions.

Aptly known as the "tattooed professor", Heidi is currently a PhD candidate studying criminal justice. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with  a Master of the Arts degree in Sociology from New Mexico State University in 2016.  She has also obtained a B.A in Sociology and an A.S in Public Health from American Public University. Aside from running the day-t0-day operations at the shop, she teaches Sociology and Diversity classes at three area colleges.
